Place of event: Quy Nhon
This three day festival promotes culture and tourism relics of the Binh Dinh Province, traditional martial arts displays and theatre from the birthplace of the famous King Quang Trung. There will be tourism exhibitions, trade villages, and traditional food available. A unique event at the Tay Son-Binh Dinh Festival showcases various forms of traditional martial arts. The events culminate in a competition between international and Vietnamese competitors. Binh Dinh's martial arts instructors will have a special performance for guests.
Binh Dinh Province officials expect the event to attract many martial art clubs from around the Province. It hopes that competitions between Binh Dinh's martial art instructors, as well as Vietnam's instructors and foreigners will help highlight this tradition as an important cultural tradition that requires conservation.
At a promotion meeting in Ho Chi Minh City, the organizers said the festival will include programs to introduce Vietnamese classical drama, a kind of operatic theatre that to untrained eye may resemble a Chinese opera. The final Dao Tan classical drama competition will take place on August 2nd. On the night of the gala there will be floral garlands and coloured lanterns, speeches and traditional music performed by artists from around the country, as well as from abroad.
