Mekong Delta 2 days: Vinh Long - Can Tho

Day 1: Saigon-Vinh Long (L)

7:00 am: Take a car to Vinh Long.

11:00 am. Arrive at the non-touristy town of Vinh Long, which is a small village. You can pick from one of the following two options:

Either able to enjoy a boat ride around the island and witness the daily activities of the local people along the river, which include collecting fruits, catching fish and making rice. Then, the motor boat will bring you to a local house where you can walk through their vast fruit farms and enjoy several kinds of tropical fruits. You will also be able to enjoy lunch with the host family.

Or, you can enjoy a vegetarian lunch at a local pagoda. Then hop onto a bicycle for a ride along the small village roads that are shaded by bamboo, banana, rambutan and pomelo trees. This is a two-hour trip. On this trip, you can visit the immense rice fields and admire the beautiful scenery, visit some houses where you can meet with local people, and visit a rice workshop to observe the rice-making procedure. You will also learn about the different trees in the Mekong Delta and will be able to identify them just by their smell.

4:00 pm. Take a local ferry to Can Tho, which arrives at the city around 6:00 pm. After checking into your hotel, you can enjoy the night in the Mekong Delta's biggest city.

Day 2: Can tho-Saigon (B)

6:00 am: Take a small boat ride (5 h) to visit Cai Rang Floating Market, which is the biggest one in the Mekong Delta. Here, you can learn about the differences between the two kinds of markets that are popular in the area, one on water and the other on land. Another boat ride takes you along the beautiful canals, where you will see a rice noodle factory, rice milling factory and a vegetable garden.

1:00 pm: Drive back to InnoViet's office or back to your hotel.

6:30 pm. The tour ends.
