Mekong Delta 3 days with Local Bus

This tour is an authentic, ‘non-touristy' and priceless experience of the lives of the people living along the delta. In addition to boat trips, there are shore excursions, including bicycle trips, which provide an up-close view of the lives of the locals. The highlights of the tour are the amazing island views, a first-hand experience of rice growing and staying in local houses, the floating markets and a very busy and colourful land market.

Day 1: SAIGON - VINH LONG

- 7 am: Local bus to Vinh Long Province.

- 12:00 pm: Arrival at a small village that is untouched by tourists in Vinh Long Province, which can only be found at Innoviet. A motor-boat will bring you to the home-stay, where you'll be greeted by the host family.

- 1:00 pm: Lunch in a very cosy atmosphere.

- 2:00 pm: Relax on a hammock.

- 2:30 pm: A bike ride (about 2.5 hours) around the small village roads which are shaded by bamboo, banana, rambutan, pomelo and mangosteen trees.

- Pass the immense green rice fields with flying egrets and working farmers, while admiring the beautiful scenery.

- See the local students on their way back home from school in their beautiful Ao Dai uniforms.

- Visit some houses where you can meet local people and observe their daily lives.

- Get an overview of the ‘Rice Making Procedure' in a rice workshop. Get to know about the "same same, but different" trees in the Mekong Delta. You will practice & try to guess the names of these trees just by their smell!

- Visiting a brick factory, walking to a pagoda and then strolling around the very quiet garden of pagoda.

- 5:00 pm: Back to the home-stay. Prepare dinner with many recipes of Vietnamese cuisine, and sit down to eat.

- Learning a lesson with the family for shopping in a Vietnamese market the next day.

- Walk around the village to see and catch fireflies, before retiring in one of the rural
houses in the Mekong Delta.


Day 2: VINH LONG - CAN THO

- 6:30 am: Visit the floating market by boat early in the morning and see how people live there and trade.

- Go shopping at the market on land, where you will buy something for a Vietnamese lunch.

- Boat back to the home-stay, where you will join in making rice paper, walking through the fruit gardens and fields.

- Take part in a mini-cooking class for lunch. After taking a rest, you will bid goodbye to the host family.

- 3:00 pm: Local boat back to Can Tho. Check-in at the hotel where you will enjoy some free time.


Day 3: CAN THO - SAIGON

- 6:30 am: Take a boat trip (4 hours) to see Cai Rang, the biggest floating market in Western Vietnam. On the way you'll visit a rice noodle factory and learn how to make rice noodles. Then, take a slow boat trip along the small beautiful canals.

- 1:00 pm: Take a car back to Saigon or local express bus to Rach Gia / Chau Doc.
