Rocking on Bike: 4 Days Cycling in Mekong Delta
We will cycle through many provinces: Long An, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Dong Thap and An Giang. The cycling trip will be divided into different leisurely trips so that you can cross small shady canals and branches of The Mekong River as well as visit the green rice fields and lovely fruit farms. Boat trips to a floating market and a row boat trip to a bird sanctuary are the special highlights of this trip. Moreover, you will spend one night at a home stay family located on an island. Total cycling distance: 185 km.
Day 01: Saigon-Tien Giang-Vinh Long (L, D)
07:00am: Start the trip by car to Tien Giang province.
09:30am: Start cycling along certain paths to get insight pineapple plantation,man-made canals and rice fields where you will see farmers crop the land with their rice and pineapple. The cycling is mainly on off roads around 5km km, which bring you authentic feeling and then we cycle in to the village under the shaded trees
11:00 am: Travel by car to Vinh Long. Stop for lunch and relax at a lovely restaurant with lots of delicious traditional cuisines.
2:30 pm: A private car will picks you up at the restaurant and take you back to the home stay family. You will also have to cycle for two hours to get to the home stay on a small island in Vinh Long. Here you will have time to get acquainted with the hosts and take part in a small cooking class. After eating dinner, you can relax on the hammocks.
Cycling distance: 50 km.
Day 02: Vinh Long-Long Xuyen-Chau Doc (B, L, D)
6:30 am: Take a boat trip to visit a local floating market to see how the local people live and earn their living on the boats. Return to the home stay family and enjoy your breakfast.
8:00 am: Cycle for two and a half hours to explore the island and find out more about the lives of the locals. Then go back to National Highway 1 where a car will pick you up to take you to Long Xuyen
1:00 pm: Eat lunch at a local restaurant and relax.
2:00 pm: Cycle for two hours from Long Xuyen to Chau Doc, then travel by car to Chau Doc. Here you can enjoy a short trek to the Sam Mountain, a land that is considered sacred by the Vietnamese, and view the spectacular sunset.

6:30 pm: Check in at a hotel.
Cycling distance: 40 km.
Day 03: Chau Doc-Tinh Bien - Sa Dec ( B, l, D)
7:00 am: Travel by car to Tinh Bien. Cycle around cajuput forest and then keep cycling along the lush rice field of the delta.
1:00 pm: Have lunch in Long Xuyen.
2:30 pm: Cycle for two hours through the mat making village and the boat making village.
5:30 pm: Travel by car to Sadec . Check in to a hotel. Eat dinner and rest.
Cycling distance: 50 km.
Day 04: Sadec –Long An -Sai Gon ( B, L)
7:00 am: Cycling through the biggest nursery village of Mekong Delta and through mango islands to village and then a car will bring us to Mytho.
1:00 pm: Stop for lunch, relax.
2: 00 pm: Car will pick us up at the restaurant and take us to Cho Gao. There we continue our cycling trip about 2 hours to Tan An town. Going throw extensive and strange-looking Dragon fruit farms will be a memorable experience.Car bring us to Long An, cycle about 2 hours to Tan An. Then we will be picked up by car and come back to Saigon by 6:30 pm.Cycle to Long An (about 2 h).
5:00 pm: Take a car back to the Innoviet Office at 203 Pham Ngu Lao or your hotel.
6:30 pm: End of the trip.
Cycling distance: 45 km.
Participant guidelines
- Passports
- Sun cream, mosquito repellent, hat
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, soap, shampoo etc)
- Shoes or sandals
- A small back-pack.
N.B. You should be clothed and appropriately covered when sleeping overnight in the home-stay.
